How to check my cars MOT status?

When purchasing a car it is important that you check the cars MOT History. This allows you to see if the car has any problems prior to your purchase. It gives you a good idea on what to be expecting to either replace or fix.

You can check your vehicle history by either using the official UK government's Free MOT Checker or another trusted website such as Check Reg's MOT History Checker. However, before you check my MOT, the seller should tell you the make, model and registration number of the car.

MOT History: Before you buy, you need to check your car history and MOT status. You need to know the registration number in advance. It allows you to identify the following:

• The last tested mileage was recorded
• If the vehicle fails / passes the previous test
• Next MOT deadline
• Any advisories or parts that failed in each test, including parts with minor problems
• Origin of each test
