Srl250617 – Check Electrical Connection Of The Electric Power Steering Pump For Trailing Axle – Schkaehps2
High
This recall applies to models that were manufactured between 01 Jan 2025 and 25 Mar 2025.
Recall Number:
R/2025/307
Recall Issued:
22/08/2025
Affected Vehicles:
7
Defect
A thermal reaction may occur at the battery connection bolts of the electronically controlled power steering pump (EHPS (Electrohydraulic Power Steering)) of the trailing axle on vehicles of models eActros 983 and eEconic 956. The two battery connection points of the electronically controlled power steering pump of the trailing axle are located at the bottom in the installation position and are provided with a cover cap to protect against contact. Rain and splash water can collect in the cover cap. The water can no longer drain off due to missing drain holes. Because the battery connection points are standing in water electrochemical corrosion occurs that decomposes the bolts beyond the usual surface corrosion of the components. As a result of the corroded contact surface the transitional resistance at the terminal stud to the battery line increases and energy is released in the form of heat. Depending on the intensity and duration of the thermal reaction the battery lines and the circuit board of the electronically controlled power steering pump could ignite and in an unfavourable case flames could spread to surrounding components or the vehicle. This may increase the risk of fire. Failure of the electronically controlled power steering pump of the trailing axle has only minor effects on driving operation. There are only restrictions when reversing which however correspond to the operation of a non-steerable trailing axle. The turning circle could also be increased. However this is hardly noticeable to the driver.
Remedy
As part of the recall campaign the cover caps on the affected vehicles must be replaced with cover caps with a water drain hole and the battery terminal studs must be cleaned and sealed with corrosion protection spray.

Low
This recall applies to ACTROS models that were manufactured between 11 Jun 2025 and 17 Jun 2025.
Recall Number:
R/2025/409
Recall Issued:

Defect
As part of our continuous quality monitoring we have identified that the vehicle-specific RDF3 (radar front end) installation height value has not been parameterized in Econic 956 Actros 963 Arocs 964 Atego 967 and eActros 983 model vehicles. Instead of the vehicle-specific installation height value a substitute value of 1 m has been entered. The substitute value is always higher than the actual installation situation. RDF3 is responsible for object recognition detecting clearance as well as close and long-range processing. It can also detect the ability to drive under and over objects which enables a radar-only reaction as part of the ABA functionality. Since the sensor value is parameterized higher than the actual installation height trucks ahead may not be detected particularly on inclines. This may lead to the fact that automatic braking by the ABA may not being triggered. Furthermore incorrect parameterization may lead to objects on the ground such as tracks manhole covers etc. being erroneously detected as obstacles causing ABA to brake the vehicle. This may increase the risk of accident.
Remedy
As a permanent measure we wish to determine the installation height of the RDF3 manually and parameterize the determined value in potentially affected vehicles as part of this recall campaign.

Defect
The rear wheel arch panel of the wheel arch cover on the front axle may not be fully engaged on Actros 963 vehicles. Due to incorrectly executed geometry by the supplier three out of five clips of the wheel arch panel could come loose. As a consequence the remaining correctly executed mounting clips and the lower screw point may fail and the wheel arch panel may detach completely from the vehicle and fall off. This may increase the risk of an accident for the following traffic.
Remedy
As part of the recall campaign the wheel arch panels must be replaced on the potentially affected vehicles.

On truck mixers of the HTM 705 HTM 805 HTM 905 and HTM 1005 series manufactured from 2016 onwards the bolt connections on the rear drum bearing bracket may loosen over time due to stress during driving and/or cracks may occur on the welded joints of the pressure plates of the rear drum bearing bracket. This can cause the body to detach from the vehicle frame which in some cases has already led to the drum falling off the vehicle while driving. This poses a risk to life and limb; Liebherr are however not aware of any personal injuries to date. The facts of the matter are still being investigated in order to determine in detail the specific risk-relevant factors – such as the types of vehicles or chassis used usage-dependent load factors and the relevance of ageing processes.
Remedy
Customers are advised to inform all employees of this recall. They are advised to inspect all affected vehicles immediately using the instructions attached to the safety notice (which has been issued to all UK customers and sales partners). If a crack is present remove the vehicle from service immedietely. In any case even if no damage is apparent contact your Liebherr sales partner for details on next steps and the retrofit which will be carried out free of charge.
